Early Morning Payoff

Shot:
It pays off to wake up early, I know bold statement. Recently I have been trying to waking up earlier to get a new start to my days and be a bit more productive. To mark this transition, I wanted to show an photo I took around 5:30 AM. It was cold morning, a bit blue but perfect for a nice long exposure.

Early Morning Rise

Shot:
I do a lot of my shooting with my friend Mike around Jersey City, New York City and Brooklyn. Mike lives about an hour north of me and always has some amazing nature photos that make me miss my origins as a photography enthusiast. I decided to get up, get ready and leave my house at 4:30 AM and head to meet him for a sunrise. I met up with him at around 5:45 AM and he took me to an awesome spot to shoot the sunrise. When we got there and get all set we soon realized that there wasn’t going to be much of a sunrise, due to the lack of clouds in the sky. There was some color in the sky and aside from us a group of fisherman starting off the morning just as early. I didn’t get the amazing sunrise I was hoping for but I did some good color and a nice silhouette scene.

Unexpected Sunrise

Shot:
I was out with the intention to capture the sunrise over New York City from lower Jersey City near Liberty State Park. I was all lined up, tripod set, camera focused just waiting and shooting some pre-sunrise shots. I was looking around and noticed right to my left was this amazing color and clouds in the sky that I just had to capture. I have since decided that it is not always about the subject of the photo and sometimes you catch the most beautiful frames sometimes just by looking around. I ended up with a sunrise over a random building in Liberty State Park.

Multiexposure Sunrise

Shot:
This day was an interesting sunrise because the it was bit cloudy but the colors were coming through nice and pretty as you can see. At some point the color started to go away, the clouds got a bit strong and it turned to just blue. This is the day I shot A Blue Morning.

Technique:
For this one I used a single exposure edited two different ways to create the foreground and background and blended them in Photoshop to create my final image.
