Think Coffee

Shot:
Was out doing some roaming, shooting, eating and drinking in NYC. I saw this coffee shot and light the look of the logo as well as the name and thought it would make a neat frame. Decided to shoot it bracketed so I could make an HDR Blend out of it.

Snowy Scenes Courtesy of Jonas

Shot:
This is the view into the courtyard from my balcony. I wanted to capturea nice snowy scene something out of a movie or even puzzle I have seen when I was young. The right time to take the photo was right after it stopped snowing to have a clear view and luckily enough before any cleanup took place.

Technique:
Here I setup my camera on a tripod with remote shutter for extra stability. I set my camera for f/5.6 and a 5 shot bracket to capture two stops up and two stops down. I used HDR eFex Pro to handle the base blend and then did a few modifications after to get my final look.

The Boat House

Shot:
I owe this photo to one person… my good friend Matthew Riley. We embarked on a journey to go camping in Lake George, NY. This was a special tip for me as it was my first time camping, I know right… first time. Once we got up there, we got settled in our site, did some shopping and picked up what we needed.

We started the trip driving around all the lake in and out of roads looking for places to get a good view of the lake for some picture taking. As we were driving past this boat house on the way out of the street Matt said that would make a great photo. I dropped the car in reverse backed up, stopped the car, grabbed my camera and fired away. I remembering thinking not much of it and moving alot. We ended do so much more on that trip, hiking, sunrise, sunset yet this ended up being my favorite shot of the trip and the first photo of mine I blew up to print large.

The Peace Within Allendale

Shot:
Hidden in the town of Allendale, NJ is what some say the best bird watching location on the east coast. This little gem of an area is called the Celery Farm. The Celery Farm is a 107-acre freshwater wetland in Allendale, New Jersey, and is open to the public during daylight hours every day of the year. Volunteers from Fyke are responsible for creating and maintaining the footpaths around the preserve, the three observation platforms and the nesting boxes. Dogs are not permitted, and other prohibited activities include fishing, boating, feeding wildlife, littering and picking plants and flowers.

Over 240 species of birds have been recorded here, and more than 50 are known to breed here. The wetlands and deciduous woods provide habitat for many mammals, fish, reptiles and insects.

I discovered this place a while back and make frequent trips there for photo as well as just to be one with nature. It is usually extremely quiet and relaxing walking the trails or hanging out in a blind watching the birds fly by and the water sit still.

Technique:
The final image here was created by shooting a bracket of three shots at -1, 0 and +1. The photos were imported into Lightroom for some minor touchups and then exported to HDR eFex Pro for the HDR Merge to occur. I also did some other edits in HDR eFex Pro to get the almost a painting feel I was going for.

Up Close with Il Dumo

Shot:
After climbing up the many steps of both Il Duomo and the Bell Tower you get amazing views of the city of Florence. These buildings are so massive that you can pretty much see the entire city of Florence. This view of the Duomo is amazing becuase you can see the people of the top and they look so tine.
