This shot started at 3:00AM, when I got up to get ready and head out to meet a good friend up at the New Croton Dam for Sunrise. We had discussed the evening before the possibility of skipping due to the weather. In the past I have decided to skip a shoot and ended up letting myself down when the sky was amazing and I was home in bed, so I decided to stick it through. I headed out at 3:30AM and reached the spot at 4:35AM, it was so dark out that we couldn’t see each other standing face to face. When we walked up to the spot it was starting to get light out so we setup and starting taking a bunch of test shots to find the right composition. The sun rose but had no color, just a nice monotone blue grey. We stuck around for a few hours until the sun was fully risen and ended up with some nice shots regardless of the missing sunrise burn.
