Being One With Nature

Shot:
My first love in photography was nature, I enjoyed sitting out being one and enjoying the silence. I would get to walk some trails, hike a mountain and take in what this planet had to offer. I would also enjoy time alone getting to clear my head, release any stress from my life as I setup my gear and captured what was in front of me. This photo was taken at Celery Farm in Allendale, NJ. You think in the middle of busy Bergen County, how can you be free of craziness, then you haven’t been to this sanctuary. It is a nice piece of land that is a protected environment for all sorts of animals and birds to thrive in. There is about a 1 mile track around the lake and some nice outlook posts where you can sit and take in the nature all well feeling like you are in a different world.

A Familiar View

Shot:
It is hard not to love this spot, it is right near my work, has a great view and great foreground for the cityscape. Whether it is sunrise, during the day or sunset I pretty much always get a good photo from this area. This one is from a afternoon walk while out of lunch break, the sky was blue, the clouds were full and it was so clear across the river I couldn’t help myself even through I promised to myself to be more diverse with my postings.

More Cool Tones

Shot:
As part of my experiments with black and white photography I have definitely tended to lean towards the cool tones versus the traditional de-saturated color image. I think it adds a different feeling to the image that you don’t get out color images. This one of my favorites areas in Brooklyn to shoot the sunset so I figured why not a sunset in black and white.

Beautiful Butterfly

Shot:
I am huge nature, animal out outdoor fan. I frequent the Bronx Zoo to pay all the animals a visit and while there one of my favorite parts is the Butterfly Garden. It is a nicely enclosed garden with feeding trays that make it easy to capture the gorgeous butterflies. It is definitely worth the trip.

Lady Liberty In The Sun

Shot:
I went to my favorite spot in Brooklyn to catch the suns etting over downtown Manhattan with a good friend of mine. We were all setup capturing some pre-sunset shots, testing the setup, location, frame, filters when we realized there wasn’t going to be much color so we decided to grab everything all put together and run out to this other pier to get some great color in the sky over the Statue of Liberty. I played around with the blacking clipping and shadows hear to make a nice silhouette of Lady Liberty in the amazing sunset.
